- Pray for godly wisdom and do not doubt. You will receive it in due time. – James 1:5-7
- You must “exercise” yourself in these things constantly if you want to grow. – 1 Timothy 4:7-8
Our God is rich (plentiful) in mercy (withholding punishment we deserve) and grace (extending kindness we don’t deserve).
When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, God cursed mankind and all of creation.
Work:
In Genesis 3:19 when God was handing out one of His curses for mankind, it was the curse of hard, back-breaking, brow-beating labor and toil all the days of our lives — “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground”. However, even in this curse, God gives mercy and grace. Depending on the lens you look through concerning work, your work will bring you either utter misery, or joy and peace (even with the curse, to the praise of His grace)! If you look at work through the lens of the world (as a slave to time and money), you will be utterly miserable in all your work/job/chores/etc. However, if you look at and perform work through the lens of the ways of God (summed up as working: gently, slowly, quietly, a little at a time, playing by the rules of the job – not as a slave to time and money), even in the curse of hard toil and labor, you will find ease, peace and joy in all your efforts.
Nature:
God cursed all of creation as well. Take for example the mountains. They are actually “dull” and cursed, yet in God’s mercy and grace, they are still so beautiful! And if these mountains, and lakes, and creeks on this earth are cursed and “dull”, then how much more amazing are the glorified mountains and lakes and creeks in heaven and on the new earth going to be? A hundredfold awaits us.
